CHCC: 2 travelers test positive for Covid-19

TWO newly arrived individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. said on Wednesday.

“The individuals were identified by travel screening and confirmed diagnosis through testing upon arrival and 5th day arrival,” CHCC added.

It said the individuals have been safely in quarantine and were moved to the designated isolation area for close monitoring.

CHCC said it has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed case, including passengers on the same flight.

As of Wednesday, CHCC said, there had been 159 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the CNMI since March 28, 2020. Two deaths were reported in March and April 2020.

Of the total positive cases, CHCC said 123 were diagnosed through travel screening: 78 from the U.S. mainland, 32 from a U.S. territory and 12 from a foreign country.

In addition, there had been 36 community transmission cases, 11 of which were diagnosed at CHCC and 25 through contact tracing.

On Guam, as of Wednesday, there had been a total of 7,789 officially reported cases of Covid-19 with 134 deaths, 22 cases in active isolation, and 7,633 not in active isolation.
