CHCC, PSS discuss vaccination of young students

THE Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and the Public School System are discussing the possibility of providing Covid-19 vaccines to eligible PSS students.

“We feel that that’s the most effective and the better approach as we roll those vaccines out,” CHCC Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna said, adding that a school-based vaccination clinic approach is part of a core strategy for the community.

School-based vaccination is being planned at selected schools, she said.

On Saturday, the first shipment of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for 5- to 11-year-olds arrived in the CNMI and was made available to members of this age group on Saipan.

Today, Monday, it will be available to those on Rota and Tinian.

Register online at www.vaccinatecnmi.com or in person at the multi-purpose center, Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Parental consent forms are required for minors who are unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and are available at www.vaccinatecnmi.com

As of Sunday, Nov. 7, 84% of the eligible CNMI population, or 35,600 individuals, had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

A total of 655 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Friday, Nov. 5.

Community-based testing will be offered today, Nov. 8, and Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 12 to 3 p.m. at the former Mariana Resort.
