Chin-Seid makes final appeal in Ngarchelong

A great number of the residents of the state were able — through an invitation from Ngarchelong’s Head of State, Chief Uong er Etei Victor Joseph and “word of mouth” — to attend the meeting; and many of them solemnly regret the lack of affable and courteous presence of some of the leaders of the state who had prior knowledge of meeting.

Distinguished people who accompanied Chin and Seid to the meeting included House of Delegates’ Speaker, Antonio Bells, Floor Leader Sabino Anastacio, Delegate Jonathan Isechal, Delegate Thomas Patris, and Delegate Lucio Ngiraiwet.Speaker Bells said during the meeting that Chin is a man of character.“Chin has maintained a peaceful campaign,” Bells said. “Chin has remained focused despite all of the negative things that has been thrown at him.”Anastacio said that Chin is a passionate person who does not give up easily. He compared Chin to the life of a Duracel battery as it “keeps on going and going and going.”“I and Chin both ran for the national legislature in 1997, “Anastacio said. “We both won — Chin to the Senate and I to the House of Delegates. The Senate, then, did not want to seat Chin and yet, he did not give up and has been serving Palau since then. I am not here to campaign for Chin in an attempt to put down anyone, but rather I am here because Chin has the character, skills, and ability to serve Palau as its president.”Seid, during his remarks, said the people of Ngarchelong, based on Palau’s political history, have etched their mark on the Palau’s Constitutional Convention, Palau’s political status, and have been influential in the elections of past presidents and senators.“This is our last stop here before Election Day,” Seid said. “If you have plans for tomorrow, look at the past, review what Chin and I are set to do for you, our children and all of Palau. We ask for a chance to have the honor of serving you.”Chin, on the other hand, apologized for the attacks — direct or indirectly – that Chin-Seid supporters in the state have endures, especially during the latter part of the campaign season.“I humbly apologize for things that were meant for me, but have been directed at you,” Chin said. “I would not have been able to have gone this far without your support and I sincerely thank you.”Chin further said, “It is those significant individuals” “tirkel bedud er tmolech” “who enable us to overcome insurmountable obstacles. These are the people who will walk with us through thick and thin.”Moreover, Chin thanked everyone who was present at the meeting for maintaining a peaceful campaign despite rumors that say otherwise.“I, Senator Seid, and members of our campaign committee have maintained a peaceful and courteous campaign,” Chin said. “The negative criticism and practice has not and will not divert our attention from the promotion peace. I hope you will vote for us on the merits of what we have accomplished and what we intent do.”Other Chin-Seid supporters – many of them of relevant social status – addressed those who present at the meeting. All who spoke essentially said, “Chin is a man of untarnished character and is the right choice for the presidency.”
