Chinese embassy holds spring festival reception in Pohnpei

The reception was attended by Secretary Lorin Robert and Deputy Secretary Jane Chigiyal, Department of Foreign Affairs; Secretary Marion Henry, Department of Resources & Development; Secretary Casiano Shoniber, Department of Education; Chairman Dion Neth, T&C Committee of the 16th Congress; Pohnpei Gov. John Ehsa, Pohnpei Lt. Gov. Churchill Edward; Speaker Nelson Pelep, Pohnpei State Legislature; John Haglelgam, president of the Micronesia-China Friendship Association and  former president of the FSM, as well as other dignitaries and friends from local communities, members of the diplomatic corps, and Chinese citizens in the FSM.

The spring festival, which falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month, is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West.
