COMMEMORATIVE medallions from Saipan VFW Post 3457 were presented to the families of Everett Liddicoat, John Carlton, retired Lt. Gen. Rod Bishop, Delmont Alexander, John Todurczuk, Sam Minniear, John Roland Cross, and Donald Thompson to honor their service in World War 2.
Joe McDoulett of VFW 3457 post presented the medallions during a dinner appreciation hosted by Pacific Development Incorporated on March 29, 2023, at the Carolinian Affairs Office pavilion.
Each medallion has the “WWII War in the Pacific” emblem on one side, and the official seals of the participating branches of service on the other side. Also inscribed on the medallion is the phrase “Our Grateful Islands Remember.”
According to PDI Managing Director Gordon Marciano, “This is the last group of the WW2 veterans and their family who visited Saipan and Tinian” recently.
“There was a total of 277 individuals who came this month and they have experienced the sounds, the sights, and tastes of our Marianas,” Marciano added.
Among the CNMI officials who met the visiting veterans and their families at the dinner reception were Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, Sen. Celina Babauta, Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho, Reps. Diego Camacho, Joel Camacho, John Paul Sablan and Ralph Yumul.
Marciano said he is also thankful to Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan, the Senate, the House of Representatives, DLNR, F&W, HPO, MVA, CPA, DCCA, CCAC, CAO, IAO, P&R, SPN/TIQ Field Operations, VFW Post 3457, Aunty Terry Bolis, KKMP, CCVI, Canoe Federation, CCVI Petlas/Simiyan Marianas and Team PDI.
