AK Saipan hosts grand opening of Puerto Rico facility

ATKINS Kroll Saipan celebrated 58 years in operation on the island by hosting the grand opening of its 27,000-square-foot, $23 million facility in Puerto Rico on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025.

The building is the new home for Toyota and Lexus, the first luxury vehicle brand on Saipan.

General Manager Tracy Guerrero said the facility is a “significant investment into our Commonwealth economy.”

She said it’s also a “reflection of our deep connection to the people of the Marianas, a community we have been so honored to serve for the last 58 years. At a time when economic challenges touch many lives this facility also symbolizes hope and resilience by maintaining jobs and contributing to the island’s future prosperity. We remain a dedicated partner to the Commonwealth and together we can continue to build a stronger and more connected community.”

In a media statement, AK said its new facility is designed in “alignment with the International Energy Conservation Code (2018).”

To that end it incorporates “low impact design” and storm water management. It also features high-efficiency HVAC systems, water-saving plumbing, and rainwater harvesting infrastructure. AK Saipan said it plans to add solar panels to its facility in the future.

As reported previously, the facility has 12 brand new service lifts, two brand new paint booths, a car frame puller, and discussion rooms where salespeople and financial planners can meet with customers.

In addition, the service bay includes a covered driveway to protect customers and their vehicles from the elements.

Clark Boswell, vice president and general manager of Atkins Kroll Guam and Saipan, said the project broke ground in 2023 and took two years to plan.

“We wanted to transform the overall customer experience and have more space so car-buying and servicing would be seamless and enjoyable. We had a vision to give our employees access to modern technology so they may grow their skills right here at home. We knew we needed to expand our footprint to make our vision a reality,” he said.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests were welcomed into the showroom with live music and complimentary food and beverages. The newly redesigned 2025 Toyota 4Runner was also on display.
