(CNMI SBDC) — Creativity has always been at the heart of Samantha Salamon’s work. Known locally as a talented photographer, Samantha is now channeling that same passion into The Matcha Edit, a premium matcha drink experience designed to delight the senses and elevate the art of enjoying matcha in the CNMI.
An innovator of the first cohort of the CNMI Innovation Incubator Program, Samantha has turned her personal love for matcha into a mission to share an authentic, high-quality drink with the community. “I’ve always been a big fan of matcha, not just as a drink but as a craft,” she said. “I wanted to offer something more intentional and refined, so I studied matcha in depth and learned proper preparation techniques and flavor pairings. My goal is to provide high-quality, thoughtfully crafted matcha that gives customers both an authentic experience and unique flavors they can enjoy.”
The Matcha Edit officially debuted in December with a small pop-up at Samantha’s photography studio, giving the community a first taste of her handcrafted matcha drinks sourced from Uji and Shizuoka, Japan. Samantha shared, “The pop-up was a success and a great opportunity to introduce my matcha to new people, see how customers responded to the flavors and presentation, and gain valuable insight and confidence as I continue to grow the business.”
Currently operating for takeout-only, The Matcha Edit is located at the AS LITO LPVES Building, on top of Drifters Gym. Customers can enjoy her matcha conveniently, with each drink reflecting Samantha’s focus on quality and craftsmanship. Samantha’s new venture highlights the CNMI Innovation Incubator Program’s role in supporting innovators who bring unique ideas and experiences to the community.
