(GMS) — On Saturday, May 31, 2025, Green Meadow School held a full day of student recognition and commencement ceremonies at the Royal Taga Hall, Saipan World Resort.
Each ceremony was organized and supported by the dedicated faculty and staff, with program segments smoothly coordinated by assigned emcees.
Principal Milagros M. Songcuan delivered the opening remarks at each event, and School President Glenn Samuel M. Songcuan offered the closing address.
Members of the Green Meadow School board, assistant principals, and administrative assistants were also in attendance to present recognition awards and diplomas to the honorees.
The day began with the 23rd Recognition Ceremony for Kindergarten 4, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade students from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The event centered on the theme, “The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.” — B.B. King.
Keynote speaker Tianna Thalia Borja Villagomez, a Green Meadow alumna, shared her inspiring journey from being a top K3 student to earning a doctorate in curriculum and education. She emphasized resilience, continuous learning, and the vital role of parents and teachers in student success.
From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the school held the 22nd Commencement Exercises for Kindergarten 3 and Kindergarten 5 students. The ceremony embraced the theme, “The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” — Dr. Seuss.
Keynote speaker Alegria “Rhea” Backe of Pacific Education Consulting Co. highlighted the importance of early relationships in brain development and praised educators for fostering kindness, curiosity, and confidence. She encouraged young graduates to keep reading, learning, and imagining.

In the early afternoon, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the 23rd Recognition Ceremony for 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th Grade students took place. The theme, “It is not where you start but how high you aim that matters for success.” — Nelson Mandela, inspired students to reach for their goals.
Keynote speaker Charlotte Cepeda, dean of learning and student success at Northern Marianas College, emphasized the power of presence and self-belief. She invited students to stand and make promises to keep aiming high and lifting each other up.
The day concluded with the 15th Elementary and 6th Middle School Commencement Exercises from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., themed “All dreams are within reach. All you have to do is keep moving towards them.” — Viola Davis.
Keynote speaker Dr. Lawrence F. Camacho, commissioner of the CNMI Public School System, delivered an empowering address encouraging graduates to be authors of their own stories. He shared his journey from a small village to commissioner and urged students to embrace future opportunities and the evolving job market.
