JKPL’s ITC introduces free courses for continuing education online

(JKPL) — The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s Information Technology Center is excited to introduce the latest online resource available, Universal Class.  All that’s needed to register and take advantage of the free courses is a library card, issued by any of the CNMI State Public Libraries.  All courses under Universal Class are accredited under the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training.

Universal Class is an online education company that provides services to students, organizations, and schools all over the world.  With over 600 online courses, everyone in the CNMI can find anything that can boost resume integrity. After each course completion, a digital certificate of course completion is issued along with Continuing Education Units added to your portfolio.  Areas of studies include Accounting, Business, Law, Health & Medicine, Computer Training, and so many more.  Each course is self-paced and includes an instructor on the other end that grades your work and answers questions you may have regarding the lesson.  All courses offer lessons through video, reading, or both with external resources if you choose to learn more about the lesson.  Without registering for Universal Class under the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the registration would cost around $189 annually with all the same benefits.

Though there are so many online education opportunities available on the internet, it is always best to ensure that the education service is accredited. IACET is a global continuing education accreditor that has developed a standard that providers must follow to ensure that the education provided is “high-quality.” IACET has accredited thousands of training programs that are a part of large-scale organizations and agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, Columbia University, United States Army, Texas A&M University, Food and Drug Administration, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration, to name a few.  As mentioned, Universal Class is accredited under IACET and with each certificate of course completion, a IACET seal is included on the certificate.

JKPL understands that as much as everyone would like to develop their professional skills, everyday life has hindered the ability to further our education. This is why the library has designated an area in the ITC that is reserved for Universal Class.  The reserved workstations are available every Saturday and can also be used on other days if requested.

To push Universal Class further, JKPL is willing to visit government and private agencies to introduce Universal Class to improve professional development in the workforce.  Agencies are more than welcome to send a request via email to cnmilib.info@gmail.com/.

If you have a library card and would like to take advantage of Universal Class, you may register at cnmilib.universalclass.com or if you would like assistance in registering, you can visit the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s Information Technology Center to use a workstation while being guided by an ITC staff.  If you would like more information regarding Universal Class, contact Joey Songsong at (670) 235-7323.
