Launching Domestic Violence Awareness Month with proclamation signing ceremony on Sept. 29

(NMCADSV) — The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence and various community partners are pleased to invite members of the community to the Domestic Violence Awareness Month or DVAM Proclamation Signing Ceremony. The event will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the Royal Taga Ballroom at Saipan World Resort.

This event aims to officially recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the CNMI, under this year’s theme, “Support All Survivors. End Victim Blaming!” The ceremony will be livestreamed in partnership with KUAM and will be available for viewing on their Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/kuamnews/.

The DVAM Proclamation Signing Ceremony will feature a distinguished guest speaker and include the presentation of the annual Bridge of Light Award. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to explore various information booths showcasing different community programs.

The prestigious Bridge of Light Award is bestowed upon one exceptional individual who has made notable contributions to ending domestic violence and sexual assault in the CNMI. “As a community, we unite to raise awareness, amplify voices, and end victim blaming. Together, we support all survivors on the path towards a brighter, violence-free future,” said NMCADSV Associate Director Kiki I. Benjamin. This statement encapsulates how the BOLA recipient should embody the essence of a “Bridge of Light” for victims and survivors. This year’s Bridge of Light Award sponsors include Bridge Capital and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation.
