(MCS) — Mount Carmel School is thrilled to announce that 12th-grader Jaeyun Jung is a QuestBridge Scholar matched to Boston College. Jaeyun joins a growing list of AlumKnights who have been selected for this prestigious program which include Xin Wen Jin (2023, Boston College), and Victoria Santos (2021, Rice University).
QuestBridge is a national nonprofit whose mission is to “connect high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with a thriving community and transformative educational, career, and life opportunities that help propel them to lives of fulfillment, meaning, and purpose.”
According to QuestBridge’s press release, this year’s applicant pool included 25,500 applicants that concluded with 2,627 Match Scholarship Recipients. Jaeyun is among a few other student scholars also selected from the Northern Mariana Islands. As scholars, these students will be awarded a full four-year scholarship to some of the top colleges in the nation.Co-founder and CEO of QuestBridge Ana Rowena Mallari commented in their recent press release, “We are delighted to welcome this record-breaking number of QuestBridge Scholars. These Scholars will contribute a rich diversity of perspectives and experiences to our college partners, enhancing the vibrancy of their campus communities.”
Upon hearing the news, Jaeyun remarked, “I look forward to making the most out of this tremendous opportunity afforded to me. It wasn’t easy, and I am so thankful to my parents, teachers, and advisors who helped me every step of the way.”
Instrumental to the application process, School Counselor Tobed Smith said “Jaeyun has been a hardworking student and it is terrific to see QuestBridge reaffirming his talent and effort. We are so proud of him for this accomplishment.”
School Principal Filmah Buenaflor also commented “Jaeyun joins a growing list of Knights who have received this prestigious scholarship. We cannot wait to witness what bigger and better accomplishments he garners at Boston College in the near future.”
