NMC and UH Mānoa launch workshops on crop and soil health

(NMC) — Northern Marianas College and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa are jointly hosting a series of agricultural workshops in early October 2025, bringing experts together for hands-on training in crop and soil health assessment.

Workshop overview

NMC and UH Mānoa invite local farmers, agricultural professionals, and students to participate in two workshops designed to boost knowledge and practical skills in crop and soil health. The events will feature interactive field sessions and in-depth discussions led by industry experts.

Crop health monitoring workshop

Date: Monday, Oct. 6, 2025

Morning field session: Kagman Agricultural Area, 8:30 a.m.

Afternoon discussion: NMC Classroom T2, 1:30 p.m.

Presenters: Charles Aiseam (CNMI Division of Agriculture) and Dr. Theodore Radovich (UH Mānoa)

Details: Attendees will learn innovative tools and techniques for monitoring and assessing crop health in the field. Refreshments will be provided.

Soil health workshop

Date: Friday, Oct. 3, 2025

Morning field session: NMC CREES As Perdido Agricultural Research Station, 8:30 a.m.

Afternoon discussion: NMC Classroom V216, 1:30 p.m.

Presenters: Dr. Adrian Ares (NMC) and Dr. Theodore Radovich (UH Mānoa)

Details: Experts will guide participants through key soil health concepts and practical assessment strategies. Refreshments will be available.
