
(NMCADSV) — The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence in collaboration with the 2024 Sexual Assault Awareness Month or SAAM Planning Committee, extends an invitation to the public to attend the Proclamation Signing Ceremony on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Kensington Hall, Kensington Hotel Saipan in San Roque.
This ceremony not only marks the official declaration of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the CNMI but also emphasizes unity through this year’s theme, “I Stand With Survivors.” Additionally, the ceremony will be livestreamed in collaboration with KUAM, providing accessibility for viewers via its Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kuamnews/.
Throughout April, NMCADSV has organized a variety of events aimed at promoting awareness and outreach on the issue and empowering community members to engage in proactive efforts throughout the year.
On Sunday, April 7, 2024, individuals are encouraged to join the CNMI-Wide Day of Prayer events at various faith-based organizations.
Then, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, coinciding with National Denim Day, the community is invited to participate in the Wave, Walk & Roll Against Sexual Violence starting at the Koblerville Youth Center at 4:30 p.m. Participants will receive 2024 SAAM t-shirts while supplies last.
Lastly, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the S.A.F.E (Safe, Aware, Free, Empower) Jamboree will take place at Hopwood Middle School Field. This family fun day promises live music, performances including our highly anticipated Advocates’ Lip Sync Battle, informational booths, kids’ games and activities, food vendors, and exciting raffle prizes!
Events and activities on Rota include the SAAM/CAN Roadside Outreach Wave on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Gagu Beach (located between Teteto Beach & Guata’ Beach), and the SAAM/CAN Carnival Outreach Event on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Tun Kindo’ Baseball Field.

In addition to these engaging activities, NMCADSV will be hosting a SAAM Spirit Week Social Media Challenge from Monday, April 22 to Friday, April 26, 2024. Participants are encouraged to join in and raise awareness through social media posts based on daily prompts provided by NMCADSV, with prizes awarded to those with the highest engagement.
Lastly, remember to tune in to 92.1 FM every Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. throughout April for insightful discussions featuring guest panelists covering topics related to SAAM.
