TINIAN — In a remarkable testament to his dedication and achievement, C/CPT Edgard Acollador, a high school Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet of the Stallion Battalion, has been accepted into the prestigious United States Naval Academy Prep-School.

This milestone not only reflects his personal commitment but also highlights the exceptional caliber of students emerging from our local JROTC programs.

Edgard’s journey to acceptance into the Naval Academy embodies the principles of leadership, discipline, and service fostered within the JROTC community.

From consistently joining JROTC events to maintaining above average grades, C/CPT Acollador exemplifies the values instilled by the program.

The acceptance into the Naval Academy marks the culmination of years of hard work and preparation. Here are some responses we gained while interviewing him.

When asked what motivated him to pursue this path, he said, “I’ve always been drawn to the discipline, leadership opportunities, and sense of duty that comes with serving in the military. Pursuing this path allows me to contribute to something greater than myself and make a positive impact on the world and be a part of the people who help and support the greater people,” he said.

How does he feel about leaving his current school on Tinian and transitioning to a military environment?

“While leaving our small school and transitioning to a military environment can be daunting, I’m excited for the unique challenges and opportunities it presents. I see it as a chance for personal growth, sharpening my skills, and developing strong bonds with fellow cadets,” he said.

“I expect my experience at the Naval Academy to be intense, but incredibly rewarding. I anticipate rigorous academic coursework, rigorous physical training, and immersive leadership development opportunities. I look forward to being part of a select community dedicated to service and excellence. With all the information and advice I received, I know the challenges and the hardships but I am also aware that nothing is impossible,” he added.

For those that may want to follow a similar path, we asked what challenges he faced during the application process.

He said, “The application process for military academies can be rigorous and demanding. Some challenges I faced included meeting academic and physical fitness standards, securing letters of recommendation, and preparing for interviews and assessments. Though seeming endless, I pushed myself through the process multiple times to hopefully get a chance to attend this prestigious school.”

Asked if he had any advice for other students considering a similar path, he said, “I would advise them to start preparing early, both academically and physically. Seek out leadership opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to service. Be resilient in the face of challenges and stay focused on your goals. And most importantly, remember that the journey is as important as the destination, so embrace the experience wholeheartedly.”

Once again, congratulations to C/CPT Edgard Acollador, for being accepted and good luck to your future endeavors!
