Welcome to the NMI!

Northern Marianas College recently hosted the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, and its executive director, Krystal Ka’ai, center, to discuss ongoing federal initiatives at NMC, namely the construction of new buildings, and to take a close look into the work of Project PROA, NMC’s Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. This marks the first time that WHIAANHPI has visited the CNMI. Founded in 1999 during the Clinton administration, WHIAANHPI is the U.S. President’s personal initiative to advance equity, justice, and opportunity for communities of Asian American and Pacific Islander descent across the country by, among other things, identifying and eliminating policy gaps within federal programs for states and territories, and promoting inclusion for AAPI communities by expanding public education and knowledge of cultures and histories.
