Court found probable cause to charge a Police officer for assault of a chef

Associate Justice Alexandra Foster during an arraignment and preliminary hearing on Wednesday said there is probable cause that suspended police officer Marsei Orrukem committed the charges of aiding and abetting grand larceny, aiding and abetting robbery, aiding and abetting petit larceny, assault and battery, assault, drunk and disorderly conduct and malicious mischief.

Orrukem appeared in court to face his charges with Counsel William Ridpath. He entered a not guilty plea to the charges.

Orrukem was released from custody and was ordered to stay away from the victim and his workplace.

Criminal case 09-181 is Orrukem’s third case. He is also facing CR 09-168 and CR 09-173 for assaulting another person and for being drunk and in disorderly conduct.

Orrukem was suspended from work on August 30.

Orrukem’s co-defendants Alex Osilek and Arnold Milong also appeared in court on Wednesday and were represented by attorney David Shadel and Public Defender Jason Shaw.

The court also found probable cause to charge Milong with grand larceny and obstruction of justice.

Osilek who was charged with robbery, petit larceny, DUI, reckless driving and negligent driving has reserved his right to enter a plea pending his counsel’s review of the paper works.

Osilek was also released from custody after he posted a $250 cash bond.

The defendants’ next hearing is set for November 16 at 9:15 am and 9:30 am.

The defendants were charged for assaulting and robbing Toshiaki Matsunaga on early morning of September 6.

The affidavit of probable cause filed in court stated that the victim had just arrived home and had just got out from his car when approached by Orrukem.

Orrukem allegedly asked him $20 and when the victim refused, the defendant grabbed him by the shirt and pulled and broke his gold necklace.

The document further stated that while Orrukem was still holding the victim’s shirt, Osilek snatched the victim’s bag and throws it on the ground.

The document added that Milong took cash from the victim’s wallet and fled afterwards.
