CPA addressing airport, seaport issues

THE Commonwealth Ports Authority is now addressing some of the issues at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport and the ports of Saipan, CPA Executive Director Christopher Tenorio told the CPA board of directors.

Tenorio reported that in the monthly meeting of the Airport Operators Committee on Aug. 29, a concern was raised about roof leaks at the airport.

Tenorio said it appears that some of these problems “may be due to condensation, and other areas may have actual leaks as it happens when it rains.”

He said CPA management is currently working with the vendor that completed the roof repairs and with an air-conditioning contractor to address the problem.

He also reported that the Port Users and Operators Committee met on Sept. 8 and brought up concerns regarding the dock lights at the Port of Saipan harbor.

He said Saipan Stevedore will work on the replacement of the lights with assistance from CPA’s seaport maintenance team.

Tenorio said all the airports on the three main islands are addressing deficiencies.
