CPA board to discuss transition report

THE Commonwealth Ports Authority board members will hold a special session on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. to discuss, among other things, the CPA transition report, CPA Board Chair Kimberlyn King-Hinds said.

“We will also answer questions from the media,” she added.

According to the transition report submitted to the Palacios-Apatang administration, CPA is “micro managed” by the board chair.

In addition, management personnel have received a 25% increase in salary while in-service staff who have been with CPA for at least 15 to 20 years are still in step 1 in the pay range level, the report added.

Among the recommendations contained in the transition report are the following:

—Desk audit for all employees.

—Hire a staff engineer.

—Hire an airport manager and eliminate the deputy director’s position.

—Increase the salary of all non-supervisory, management positions by 25%.

The report likewise recommended the appointment of at least one transition team member — preferably team leader Teri Camacho — as CPA board member to oversee their findings and recommendations.

Former Rep. Claudio Norita, the chairman of the subcommittee on transition process, earlier said that they made sure that those selected to serve on the transition committee had no interest in the department or agency they were tasked to review.
