THE law firm of attorney Michael Dotts is asking the Superior Court to enforce its judgment against Imperial Pacific International in the amount of $397,625.62 plus interest.
According to Dotts’ motion, on Dec. 28, 2021, the court issued a default judgment pursuant to Comm. R. Civ. Pro. 55 (b)(1) ordering IPI to pay his law office in the amount of $397,625.62, plus interest at the post judgment rate of 9% per annum from the date of entry of judgment until fully paid.
Dotts said IPI has failed and refused to pay any part of the judgment.
He believes IPI has funds in Bank of Saipan.
“Plaintiff moves to execute on the fund in Bank of Saipan from Defendant until the judgment amount has been paid and requests an order directing Bank of Saipan to issue the checks for Defendant to the Trust Account of the Dotts Law Office until the judgment has been satisfied,” Dotts said.
“Plaintiff has a money judgment but, despite repeated demand, no payment has been made by defendant,” he reiterated.
“If the court is reluctant to authorize execution on the full judgment amount, plaintiff will seek to examine defendants’ ability to pay and to determine the fastest manner in which defendant can pay the judgment which remains unsatisfied,” Dotts said.
He asked the court to issue a writ of execution, or, in the alternative, the aid of the court in enforcing the judgment.
Dotts represented IPI in many federal and local court cases but withdrew as the casino investor’s lawyer in 2021 for its failure to pay for his legal services.
