DPS to conduct checkpoints

(DPS) — The Department of Public Safety will be conducting a total of four separate occupant protection and child restraint checkpoints on Wednesday, Sept. 22,  and Friday, Sept. 24.

Wednesday, Sept. 22

The first checkpoint will be along Chalan Pale Arnold, Puerto Rico, to Chalan Pale Arnold, Chalan Laulau from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The second checkpoint will be along Beach Road Garapan, to Beach Road, Susupe from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 24

The first checkpoint will be along Chalan Monsignor Martinez, Koblerville, to Chalan Monsignor Martinez, Dandan, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The second checkpoint will be along Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, San Jose, to Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, Dandan, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

According to DPS, the purpose of these scheduled checkpoints is to promote public safety while increasing the awareness of the dangers of not utilizing a vehicle’s occupant protection system as well as child restraint systems while driving on the island’s roadways. Locations of these checkpoints were pre-determined based on the number of auto-accidents, occupant protection, and child restraint system violations in these areas.
