THE incoming administration’s transition team on Thursday announced its traffic control plan for the inauguration of Gov.-elect Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov.-elect David M. Apatang, which will be held outside the Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023.
The inauguration subcommittee vice chairman, former Speaker Oscar M. Babauta, told reporters on Thursday that over 1,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony.
With Babauta at the media conference were the Department of Public Safety’s highway patrol commander, Capt. Juan Mendiola, and Lt. Dan Smith who briefed reporters about the traffic control plan.
They said on Monday morning, Beach Road’s northbound lane will be closed from the traffic lights at Saipan World Resort all the way to the traffic lights at Marianas High School. Motorists headed north will have to use the inner southbound lane while motorists headed south will use the outer lane.
Smith advised motorists to take alternate routes.
The designated public parking lots are located at the Guma Hustisia, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and across from the multi-purpose center.
Smith said traffic in the area should be back to normal around noon.
Police Capt. Juan Mendiola on Thursday briefs members of the media about the inauguration traffic control plan for Monday, Jan. 9, 2023.
