


ROTA — A white van struck a utility pole near Rota’s Cave Museum near Songsong Village around 10 p.m. Saturday, causing a power outage in the village.
At least five police vehicles and a fire truck were on scene. No ambulance was spotted.
A police officer on scene said the driver was intoxicated.
It was unknown if there were multiple passengers in the vehicle. The conditions of the driver and any potential passengers were also unknown at this time.
Commonwealth Utilities Corporation linemen and the Department of Public Works were working to clear the road, as the accident was blocking the only way in and out of the village.
Several northbound cars were parked on the side of the road, waiting for it to reopen. More details to follow.
