E-Land donates to Tonga tsunami relief drive

E-LAND on Friday donated various items to the Tonga tsunami relief drive.

The drive was organized by the Tongan community on Saipan.

E-Land donated a pallet of bottled water, or 100 cases of water; four cases of hand sanitizers, or 112 bottles, and 100 sacks of 10-pound rice.

All of the items were delivered to Life in the Son Christian Fellowship on Friday to be stored until shipment.

E-Land management expressed its well wishes for the safety and health of the people of Tonga.

E-Land is the owner and operator of Kensington Hotel Saipan, Coral Ocean Golf Resort, and the Pacific Islands Club.

In January, the massive eruption of the Hunga Tonga Hunga-Ha’apai underwater volcano resulted in a powerful tsunami that hit the chain of islands in January.

Soon after, Tongan nationals on Saipan began organizing a relief drive with the goal of filling a cargo container with non-perishable food, drinking water, clothes, household items, and any other in-kind donation from the CNMI community.

The main relief drive was held on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Garapan Fishing Base, garnering countless food items, water, and supplies donated by the local community.

Countless public officials and community members showed their support for the cause, including Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, first lady Diann T. Torres, and their children.
