Edwin Santos Sablan arrested for disturbing the peace, other charges

THE Department of Public Safety on Friday stated that Edwin Santos Sablan had been arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, assault and battery, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

According to DPS, it received a call on March 18, 2022, reporting a disturbing-the-peace incident at a residence in Oleai.

Police learned that Edwin Sablan was arguing with his wife while breaking glass within the residence.

Police also learned that Sablan had been beating up his wife and their daughter, DPS said.

Further investigation revealed that Sablan had sexually assaulted a woman in the first degree, DPS stated.

On March 22, 2022, an arrest warrant was signed and issued by Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio with bail set at $100,000.

At approximately 6:24 p.m., on that same day, Sablan was arrested at a residence in Susupe and transported to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained, DPS stated.

On March 23, Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan retained the $100,000 cash bail imposed on Sablan before remanding him to the custody of Corrections.

Sablan was ordered to return to court on March 30 at 10 a.m. for a preliminary hearing, and on April 4 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.

At the hearing on Wednesday, Sablan was represented by Assistant Public Defender Vena Seelam while Chief Prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.
