Remengesau said that he signed the $3 million grant from FAA to construct an auxiliary apron at the airport to provide more parking space for airplanes
Remengesau also said that he signed an $800,000 grant from the FAA for the Airport Master Plan, which will include the Peleliu and Angaur airports.The FAA has provided Palau with over $20 million grant for the airport improvement.With this, the National Emergency Committee and the Bureau of Aviation with joint collaboration with the FAA will hold a full scale exercise scheduled on Sept. 25, 2008.Vice President Elias Camsek Chin said that the aim of the exercise is to find out Palau’s readiness to respond to an aircraft crash.He said that emergency responders will be responding to simulated airport incident.He asked the public for cooperation during this exercise by yielding the right of way to emergency vehicles.
