This is part of the government’s efforts to help farmers and boost the agricultural sector. The government is also shifting its focus to other agro-products.
Fiji Agro Marketing Company Limited chairman Col. Mosese Tikoitoga said they signed the deal with the U.S.-based company last week.
“We are awaiting our first consignment and details will be released once we send that consignment across,” he said.
Tikoitoga said they have been concerned with the non-availability of a market for one of Fiji’s main agricultural export products.
“We want to balance it and focus on other agro-products,” Tikoitoga said.
“The government is committed to securing more markets for our farmers and we are seeking all avenues to meet the local demand.”
Fiji Agro Marketing has now come under the prime minister’s office in a bid to revive the industry.
