FIREFIGHTER 1 Peter Litulumar has been charged with sexual assault in the second degree after another firefighter accused him of touching her inappropriately as she was taking a nap.
The victim, who was posted at the former Mariana Resort as part of the Covid-19 Task Force, told police that on the morning of April 5, 2021 Litulumar arrived for duty telling her that he was feeling “drunk” after “a couple of rounds of beer.”
After lunch, the victim told Litulumar that she would take a nap in a sleeping bag in a room. She later woke up because Litulumar was “touching her all over her body.”
The victim said she told Litulumar, “Stop, get off me! It’s not gonna happen!”
She said she told Litulumar more than five times to get off her, but he “kept leaning in — he kept on doing it.”
The victim said when she was able to crawl out of the sleeping bag she ran out of the room and stayed out for a few hours. The victim said when she returned to the room Litulumar was asleep.
On the same day, when police tried to talk to Litulumar about the allegation against him, he said, “No, I want a lawyer.”
Litulumar appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho for a bail hearing on Friday in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
Judge Camacho imposed a $20,000 cash bail on the defendant and remanded him to the custody of the Department of Corrections.
The court-appointed defense counsel, Assistant Public Defender Jean P. Nogues, asked the judge to reduce the bail or allow the defendant to post 10% of the bail, which Judge Camacho denied.
Assistant Attorney General Coleen St. Clair appeared for the government.
Litulumar is scheduled to return to court on April 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. for a preliminary hearing and on April 20, 2021 at 9 a.m. for his arraignment.
