“Tourism has a wide reach,” he added. “It’s not only focused on one concept. We have visitors that come to the CNMI for sports, education and religious celebration.”

He added, “So let’s not forget also the other opportunities that we have for schools or religious groups that want to come out here for sports or religious activities.”

As for the planned travel bubble with South Korea and Japan, Tenorio said, “From what I’ve read, travel bubble is really worth the consideration given the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic.”

He believes that  MVA is well-informed about the issue. “I am also hoping that at some point we do open up the market to some degree while taking into consideration that we have to protect the people of the CNMI from the pandemic,” he said.

Tenorio served as MVA managing director from 1998 to 2002 and from 2006 to 2016.

He is currently a fiscal analyst of the Legislative Bureau and its acting director.
