Emy Katosang, chairperson for the Youth In Action (YIA) said that presidentiables, Elias Camsek Chin, Surangel Whipps, Joshua Koshiba and Johnson Toribiong have agreed to face one another in a second presidential debate.
Katosang said that the four confirmed attendance to the debate. The debate is scheduled on July 23 at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Katosang said prior to the debate the organizers have sent prepared questions to the presidential candidates which dealt on topics on education, drug and alcohol use, child abuse, suicide, youth employment and the topic on why young men and women prefer going to the military than seek higher education.
Katosang said that invitations have been sent out to students of the Palau Community College (PCC) and other youths who are in the voting age.
The debate will also be relating to Palau’s economy, education, health, employment and environment.
She added that the youth attending the debate will have the opportunity to ask questions but it will be screened and the response will be timed by the organizers.
The YIA and the Koror State Youth Council (KYSC) hosted the debate to give the Palau youth the chance to raise their concerns, questions, and inquiries directly to the presidential candidates.
The debate will also provide an alternative outlook for all other viewers or voters.
The debate will also give the voters information about their candidates and their position on certain issues.
