FSM’s Mori congratulates new Japan PM

Mori wrote, “It is with great pleasure that I extend, on behalf of the people and government of the Federated States of Micronesia, our warmest congratulations on your successful election to the esteemed post of prime minister of Japan.”

He said Noda’s “assumption of your new post carries with it the huge responsibility of managing the many challenges facing Japan, including the triple disasters caused by the tsunami, earthquake, and the nuclear power plant accident not to mention recent typhoons that have devastated parts of your country. I am confident that through your strong leadership and commitment, Japan and its people will rise again to meet these challenges with resiliency and perseverance.”

Mori noted that FSM and Japan have special historic ties that have strengthened over the years as he confirmed his “strong desire and intention” to work for further advancement of what he called an “excellent relationship.”

FSM and Japan established diplomatic relations 23 years ago.
