THE “Gandang Pinay” or Filipina Beauty pageant, which will be held on Feb, 11, 2023 at the Saipan World Resort, is organized by the Bayani Association which successfully staged Drag Queen 2022 early this year.
In preparation for the pageant, the 13 Gandang Pinay candidates participated in a seven-hour “boot camp” training on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, in the conference room of Ada gym.
The training was conducted by some of the island’s well-known personalities and beauty queens.
For the “first impression” module, the trainers were 2020 Miss Northern Marianas Earth Maria Lael Terlaje and the national director of Stellar Marianas from 2014-2019, Crispin “Ping” Deleon Guerrero.
The candidates then learned make-up and hairstyling tips from beauticians Venus Grino, Girlie Attao, and Drag Queen 2022 herself, Shine Vizcarra Robin.
For the talk module, the presenter was the co-founder and vice president of the Miss Earth Northern Marianas Beauty Pageant, Rosalyn Ajoste.
The personality module was conducted by 2020 Miss Northern Marianas Water who is also a registered nurse, Zoe Stephanson.
For her part, the program coordinator of the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, Grace Velena, talked about domestic abuse, family violence and sexual assault.
The fashion style module was presented by the president and CEO of FM Corporation as well as the owner of the House of Beautiful Creation, Bench Legaspi, who discussed wardrobe, accessories, footwear and pageant attire.
Photography is a major part of any pageant so the candidates also learned how to project and pose in front of a camera from Myla Deets a freelance photographer and the owner of MyCaptures.
The pageant choreographer and director, Ernie Molina, showed the candidates the pageant walk, pageant poses, among others.
The Bayani Association is grateful to Cecile Obando of Blu Haus for the giveaways presented to the 13 candidates. Thank you, too, to Savory, D’Elegance Café, Shirley’s Coffeeshop, Gold Ribbon, and Shirley Wilson Catering for the sumptuous lunch provided to the candidates, parents, guests and volunteers.
All presenters received a Certificate of Recognition for their valuable time and support, Bayani Association President Annamae Adaza said.
