GFD investigating apartment fire

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A Tamuning apartment was evacuated after a reported fire Wednesday morning.

At about 8:03 a.m., the Guam Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Summer Garden apartment complex, directly across from Denny’s in Tamuning, according to GFD spokesperson Nick Garrido.

“Upon arrival, (firefighters) found a single unit located on the first floor, fully engulfed. The unit was unoccupied at the time of the incident,” Garrido said.

An individual, however, who resided on the second floor was assessed for smoke inhalation and refused transport.

At 9:22 a.m. when Garrido informed the media of the fire, GFD investigators were on scene and conducting an investigation.

Authorities had not released information about the cause of the fire as of press time.
