GNC donates vitamins to Guam

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Guam received a donation of supplements worth $42,530 from the GNC headquarters located in Pittsburgh after the company officials learned of the damage done to the island by Typhoon Mawar this past May.

GNC’s franchise on the island is looking for more organizations interested in joining them in their efforts to deliver donated supplements to people in need, according to GNC Guam officials.

With the assistance of Del. James Moylan, GNC employees visited senior centers and the mayor’s offices in Yigo, Mangilao, Ordot, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Hågat, Dededo, Sånta Rita-Sumai, Inalåhan and Agana Heights on Sept. 20 to distribute vitamin C.

GNC Guam also joined volunteers from Korea, including Ina Lee, who offered free haircut services while other volunteers assisted in providing vitamin C to residents.

Edward Lu, chief nutritionist of GNC Guam, said taking vitamins is a nutritional solution for wellness. “We are glad to bring people vitamin C now when flu season is approaching,” Lu said.

GNC also plans to donate liquid-form fish oil supplements that are meant for children up to 5 years old to neighboring islands, said Lu.
