(Office of the Governor) — Gov. Ralph DLG Torres issued the following statement Sunday:
“Cabinet members are empowered to make decisions that are in the best interests of the Commonwealth and for their departments.
“Part and parcel of this empowerment requires a constant review of where assets are best needed to achieve a mission.
“In this particular instance, and as the Secretary of Finance aptly decided, there is a void at the Department of Commerce that we are confident Mr. Mafnas will competently fill.
“His tenure at the Division of Customs will lend to the readiness of the men and women at Customs to ensure a smooth transition.
“I thank him for his service and look forward to the positive results he will bring to his new office.”
