GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres said he is glad that Commonwealth Utilities Corp. Executive Director Gary Camacho cleared up a lot of misunderstanding or false accusations regarding the governor’s utility bills.
Camacho recently appeared before the Democrat-led House Committee on Judiciary and Governmental Operations whose members asked questions about the governor’s utility usage, among other things.
The governor said he himself raised concerns about his utility charges, which he said were “so high.”
He said the public utility conducted an assessment and found that there was only one water meter. That issue has already been resolved, he added.
He said he was treated the same way as any other meter owner.
The governor added that he does not have 300 pigs as claimed by some lawmakers.
“I’m glad that Gary cleared up a lot of misunderstanding or false accusations regarding the water meter,” he said.
During the hearing, the CUC official was shown memoranda indicating that aside from having the utility bills for his As Teo residence paid for by the government, the governor was also reimbursed for the utility bills at his previous residence in Koblerville. However, the CUC account was registered under the name of the governor’s sister, Judy Marie Torres.
