THE United Filipino Organization CNMI Inc., under the leadership of its president, Marcelo “Mar” Masilungan, and in collaboration with the CNMI government, is constructing a UFO pavilion on Beach Road in Garapan.
Governor Ralph DLG Torres, Department of Public Lands Secretary Sixto Igisomar and Department of Land and Natural Resources Acting Director Gus Kaipat joined Masilungan and the officers and representatives of the 10 member organizations of UFO in a groundbreaking ceremony at the project site on Thursday afternoon.
In his remarks, Torres lauded and thanked the Filipino organization for their community services.
Masilungan, for his part, said, the pavilion will be UFO’s first legacy project. “Pavilions are needed along the road and especially near beaches for the community and visiting tourists’ convenience while they enjoy the beauty and serenity that the island offers.”
The pavilion will include flag poles, he added, and will be an ideal venue for cultural activities and celebrations, he said.
“This is not only for Filipinos but for everybody,” he added. “This project will serve as an additional facility for recreation, family bonding and get-together venue for the people of the CNMI.”
