HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Attorney General Douglas Moylan will brief the Guam Department of Education on his recent trip to Washington, D.C., where he attended a meeting hosted by President Donald Trump.
On Feb. 27, Moylan met with 20 other “like-minded” attorneys general to discuss transgender athletes in women’s sports.
According to a press release from the Office of the Attorney General issued on Tuesday, the discussion, titled “No Men in Women’s Sports Attorney General Discussion,” included U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and other attorneys general from across the country. They discussed ways to promote Trump’s executive orders.
The press release stated that Bondi held a “closed-door” meeting with the attending attorneys general and “presented speeches from four young ladies expressing their injuries and struggles from boys competing in women’s sports.”
“Like-minded AGs in attendance then spoke candidly on how to fulfill the President’s executive orders using the law in our jurisdictions. Guam was the only territory to attend,” the release stated.
Additionally, the release indicated that Department of Justice officials emphasized that any state or territory failing to comply with the executive orders risks losing federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
“This AG took an important step in letting Washington know this AG supports this President and his executive orders. During the meeting, General Moylan actively provided recommendations to this working group of legal professionals…. We built relationships and aligned efforts, showing Guam supports our President’s agenda,” the release stated.
The AG’s office further stated that Moylan will meet with GDOE to inform officials about the discussion.
The release also noted that Moylan met with White House officials involved in Guam’s health care, public safety and education and updated Delegate James Moylan on his meetings.
