Guam’s Department of Revenue and Taxation issued a notice regarding social media accounts claiming they can issue or renew driver’s licenses, a service only provided by DRT.

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — The Department of Revenue and Taxation is urging the community to report social media accounts claiming to issue or renew driver’s licenses.

A press release issued by DRT on Tuesday stated the agency has received multiple reports of Facebook pages claiming to be Guam’s “verified registered online driver’s license service,” and making claims that they can act on behalf of DRT by waiving legal requirements such as attending driving school, accumulating road hours and taking the written and road test.

“These pages are all scams. We strongly advise the community to call us and verify the validity of claims that a person or business offers government-provided services such as driver’s licensing and permits,” DRT Director Marie Lizama stated in the release.

The release further clarified that issuing and renewing driver’s licenses is a service provided exclusively by DRT.

“DRT’s division of motor vehicles is the sole agent authorized to issue Guam’s government identification and driver’s licenses. Further, DRT does not contract third-party organizations to issue or renew driver’s licenses and permits, nor does it endorse any company claiming to be able to do so,” the release stated.

To further verify and information and claims, the community is encouraged to call DRT’s call center at (671) 635-1840/1841/7651 or email pinadmin@revtax.guam.gov/.

Additionally, to make appointments for driver’s licenses, permits and renewal, the community can visit myid.guam.gov.

Individuals applying for a driver’s license for the first time must come to DRT’s Barrigada location during normal working hours, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Driver’s license renewal applications can be mailed to P.O. Box 23607, Barrigada, Guam, 96921. Renewal applications can also be dropped off at DRT’s drop box located at the entrance of its building in Barrigada. The drop box is accessible 24-hours a day.
