Heavy rains causes landslides

Highway Engineer Kione Isechal in an interview said that the landslides occurred at Ngerikiil , at the area  just before the junction to Melekeok and at Ngaraard.Isechal said that it is now Palau’s responsibility to make road repairs because it was officially turned over to the government last year.Isechal said that one the weather improves repairs will be made to the roads immediately.Repairs cannot commence because rains contributes to the loose soil condition.He said the government will tap the money set aside as maintenance fund for the Compact Road.Isechal said that the landslide might have occurred last week.Isexchal said repairs will include seeding and reshaping of the soil.He said local contractors will commissioned to conduct the repairs.
