President Johnson Toribiong yesterday afternoon announced that the two diplomatic officials are refrained from performing their duties until the government gets into the controversy of the spat.
President Toribiong finally decided to take action on the matter by creating a task force to look into the spat between Davidson and Henry.
“In the interim and until the task force has completed its duties, Henry and Davidson shall be placed on temporary administrative leave and not to take any action in the name or on behalf of Palau,” the president said.
The task force will issue its result on May 1.
The two exchanged heated and conflicting accusations and carried on the debates using advertisements published in newspapers. The spat was apparently due to exchange of monies and the involvement in the nonexistent project in Angaur.
The exchanges, the president said is already undermining the integrity and credibility of the country.
A United Kingdom-registered company, Pacific Investments Properties Limited which claimed that it was duped by Davidson company’sto invest a huge amount of money for a nonexistence project has earlier sought the help of the Palau government to look into the dubious practices of the firm.
PIP in a letter said that it has a business dealings with UKIHK over the past four yearson an agreement to sublease a land on Angaur as part of the Solaris City Project to develop a 500 condominium residences known as Pacific Views in the state.
In the letter the firm was promised that the project will be in full swing by 2009, however as of this date the project has not commenced.
The firm also claimed in the letter that Davidson may have operated other dubious practices of this nature in the past.
Henry figured in the issue as the broker between UKHIL and the Angaur clans in the lease of lands.
As early as 2006, The UKHoldings has been offering to Palau its outlandish project which it claimed would include an airport , 3,000 hotel rooms, villas, recreation facilities, a golf course, a casino, and a marina.
It claims that it has the support of the Palau government.
