HITLER Weilbacher, 24, is accused of stealing three vehicles and driving without a license.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $5,000 cash bail on the defendant at a bail hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
At the hearing, the judge asked Weilbacher what he does for a living. He told the court that he was in charge of “firing and hiring” at “Best Sunshine.”
Assistant Public Defender Veena Seelam, who represented Weilbacher, asked the court to release the defendant on his own recognizance.
Assistant Attorney General Chester Hinds, who appeared for the government, told the court that the charge against the defendant carries a maximum sentence of one-year imprisonment and $1,000 fine.
After hearing from the parties, Judge Camacho denied the defense counsel’s request to release Weilbacher, saying that someone has to watch the defendant if he’s released.
The judge instructed Seelam to notify Weilbacher’s parents that their son is in custody of the Department of Corrections.
The judge told Weilbacher to return to court on April 28 for a preliminary hearing and on April 29 for an arraignment.
In February 2020, Judge Camacho dismissed with prejudice the theft of vehicle and assaulting a police officer charges against Weilbacher after a mental health evaluation found him incompetent to stand trial.
Regarding the defendant’s latest case, police stated that on Feb. 23, 2021 at 10:55 a.m., a woman reported a theft of vehicle incident at Winner’s Laundry in Garapan.
She said her orange Toyota Tacoma was stolen. The vehicle was later spotted by police in Chalan Kiya where a felony stop was conducted. Weilbacher was the operator of the stolen vehicle and was arrested.
Two other stolen vehicle incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety on April 10 and 20 with Weilbacher as the perpetrator.
