“I put one of the donated drums for trash at the basketball court, but some people are still throwing their trash in the boonies,” he added.

The trash included identifiable personal items, such as receipts and agency action forms, Aguon said, adding that he has reported it to the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality.

Besides BECQ, the other agencies tasked to enforce the anti-littering law are the Department of Public Safety, the Saipan Mayor’s Office, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., the Department of Public Works and the Department of Lands and Natural Resources.

Aguon is once again asking community members to dispose of trash properly and to report illegal dumping to the authorities.

He likewise thanked community members and businesses that support his cleanup activities.

These include JEM Co. Ltd./CMG San Jose Mobil gas station, which donated a $100 monthly gas allowance and DPA Car Mart, which provided Aguon with a pickup truck to pull the trailer he uses to collect trash on Saipan.

Aguon said DPA Car Mart also regularly maintains the pickup, and this includes changing its engine oil every three months.
