Lt. Aloysius Alonz of the Criminal Investigation Section said that the inmate is currently incarcerated for grand larceny offense last year and was doing his community service at the Minister of Justice office when he committed a new offense.
Alonz said an employee of the MOJ lost an expensive cell phone on May 21. The incident was reported to the police at 2 pm.The victim was charging her cell phone inside her office and went out for a while to see her boss. When she came back an hour later she found out that her cell phone was already gone.CIS conducted an investigation and on May 28, police officer Earlee Decherong recovered the stolen cell phone.The cell phone was found in the possession of the suspect’s co-inmate.During investigation, it was found out that the cell phone was given to the inmate by the suspect for safekeeping.Alonz said it was disclosed during the investigation that the suspect was one of the person who went to the MOJ office on May 21.Alonz said the inmate will be charged anew with grand larceny.
