HONGTAO Su, a senior advisor of Imperial Pacific International’s board of directors, is back on island, ahead of the Commonwealth Casino Commission’s hearing on May 24, Variety learned.
Su left last year in the midst of a lawsuit filed against him by a contractor who performed the construction of level 14 of the IPI-hotel-casino project in Garapan. Modica Pro Ltd. sued Su for interfering with the contract between IPI and the contractor.
In an interview, Casino Commissioner Ramon M. Dela Cruz said he could hope that Su’s presence can help resolve IPI’s mounting problems.
Dela Cruz said IPI needs to come up with a “positive solution moving forward.”
The casino commission executive director, Andrew Yeom, has filed the following enforcement actions against IPI:
• Enforcement Action 2021-001. For non-payment of annual license fee (2020).
• Enforcement Action 2021-002. For non-compliance with the working capital requirement for three months’ payroll.
• Enforcement Action 2021-003. For non-payment of regulatory fee (2020).
• Enforcement Action 2021-004. For non-payment of license fee due Aug. 12, 2021.
Yeom has also asked the commission to revoke IPI’s exclusive casino license.
