IPI, USDOL still discussing amount owed to IPI employees

OTHER than stating that Imperial Pacific International LLC and the U.S. Department of Labor are still discussing the issue regarding the amount still owed to IPI’s employees, “there is nothing further to report,” attorney Michael Dotts said in IPI’s 27th status report to the federal court.

“Payroll was distributed in full and without incident on Friday, July 16,” he said, adding that IPI’s next payroll is due on July 30 (Payroll 16).

According to Dotts, no settlement payments were due during the reporting period (July 7 to July 19, 2021), and the next settlement payment is due on Aug. 1.

As for employee housing, food, and repatriation, Dotts said, “There is nothing new to report.”

Construction work at the Imperial Pacific Resort in Garapan remains suspended as ordered by the court, he added.

As part of the amended judgment entered between IPI and the U.S. Department of Labor on March 29, 2021, IPI is required to file weekly status updates regarding its progress in purging contempt and paying the remaining amounts in the initial consent judgement.

IPI was ordered to make incremental monthly payments of $164,270.08 from April 1, 2021, to Dec. 1, 2021, for a total amount of $1,478,430.72.

To date, IPI has made a payment of $657,080.32, from January to July 2021.
