HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man who last year was suspected of livestreaming a “joyride to prison” is facing new charges of aggravated assault.
On Monday, Siro Sanamon Retonong was charged with aggravated assault in connection to an incident reported on Sept. 2.
According to a magistrate’s complaint, officers with the Guam Police Department spoke with a woman on that day at a Yigo residence. The woman told police Retonong,”had come into (the) residence and pulled her hair before pushing her to the ground.”
Retonong then allegedly kicked the woman four times in the face, which caused her to pass out.
Police observed swelling on the victim’s lower lip and left side of her face before she was transported to Guam Regional Medical City for treatment.
When interviewed by officers, Retonong denied the allegations, but allegedly admitted to “knowing that there is a stay-away order and that he was not supposed to be at the residence, but he went inside of the residence anyway.”
According to the complaint, police noted Retonong had an ankle monitor, which indicated he was on pretrial release. Retonong is on pretrial release for a 2022 felony case where the same woman was the named victim.
Retonong was subsequently arrested and, while in the holding cells at Dededo Precinct, became aggressive with officers.
“What, bro, I’ll make sure I get you in trouble, I’ll make up that you said you’re going to kill me,” Retonong allegedly said at the time, according to the complaint.
Then, on Oct. 29, police spoke with a man at Dededo Precinct who said Retonong was looking into the window of his Yigo residence.
The man explained Retonong wasn’t allowed to be there and allegedly made offensive statements while “approaching in an aggressive manner,” according to the complaint.
‘Joyride to prison’
Retonong is on pretrial release for a case stemming from a car crash livestreamed in May 2022.
In the moments leading up to the May 18, 2022, crash along Macheche Road, Retonong appeared distraught while drinking and driving.
According to Post files, Retonong said in the livestream that he was upset at a woman for taking away his children.
“This is a joyride to prison,” the driver of the white sedan, allegedly Retonong, said during the start of the stream. “Now I am physically, mentally and emotionally damaged. Even spiritually. … You’re so lucky that I love you so hard, and here I am.”
Retonong eventually crashed into another car. The collision sent a man and his wife to the hospital. The woman suffered from a fractured bone in her pelvic area and her husband had bleeding and swelling to the brain and nerve damage to his eye, according to court documents.
When police responded to the scene, they noted that Retonong continued to drink beer in front of them.
