Kanai commemorates Ngaraard’s Memorial Day

Gibson Kanai, one of Ngaraard’s candidates for a seat in the House of Delegates, his friends, and supporters of his candidacy will host a commemoration festivity on Saturday, August 16 as a tribute to everyone, who at one time or another, had given his or her time and effort in service for the state.“The list of people who have served Ngaraard is as long as the history of the state,” Kanai said, “And a great many of them had served behind the scenes and have not been duly recognized.  During this Saturday’s celebration of our memorial day, we will honor every soul who had given to the state.”Kanai said that there will be a softball tournament.  Five teams – representing the hamlets of Chol, Ngebuked, Elab, Ulimang, and Ngkeklau – have been organized and anyone who can trace his or her ancestry to any of the hamlets is more than welcome to join.“Food and drinks will be served,” Kanai said. “ However, this will be a drug and alcohol free celebration and we ask that all who join keep it that way.”Kanai said that the festivities will be held in Ulimang, Ngaraard and would promptly begin at 9:30 a.m.For further inquiries about the event please call 488-1353.
