Kayangel donates $1k scholarship grant; PHS students give lemons to hospital

Kesina K. Tadao a freshman from Palau Community College taking up Office Management was selected by the Palau National Scholarship Board to receive the $1,000 scholarship grant from Kayangel State.

According to Kayangel Governor Edwin Chiokai, their scholarship program has been going on for three years now, helping and inspiring high school graduates from Kayangel to study hard.

Tadao, who graduated from Belau Modekngei High School, went through the usual selection process in Palau National Scholarship Board based on her GPA and other requirements.

The governor said he wants to recognize the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Tadao for doing a good job raising their daughter.

On the other hand, PHS senior agriculture class donated a total of 120 lbs of lemon to the hospital on Wednesday.

Agriculture teacher Villiany Thomas said the students planted the lemons themselves. “And instead of selling them to vendors, the class decided to donate it to the hospital,” he said.

He added that the second harvest will be donated to the inmates at the Bureau of Corrections.
