The members unanimously re-elected and seated Harrington Olebuu as the Speaker, elected Francisca Skiwo as Vice-speaker, and Ricky Ngiraked as the Floor Leader.Skiwo served as the Floor Leader in the state’s 12th legislature and Elmis Ruluked was the Vice Speaker. Except for Olebuu, the members reshuffled the leadership of the legislature, moved replaced Ruluked, and seated Ngiraked as the Floor Leader.In a phone interview with Olebuu, he said that he is grateful, appreciative, and humbled by the trust that his colleagues have bestowed on him.“I thank all of the members of 13th Kayangel State Legislature for their vote of confidence,” Olebuu said. “I pledge, as when I have sworn, to work along with all the members of the legislature to ensure that the people of Kayangel are served and that their needs are met.”Olebuu further added that he would work closely with Governor Edwin Chokai as he and the members of the legislature have previously done.“There will be times that we will not agree on things,” he said, “but we, in the interest of the people of the state, will find a solution together as we have always done.”
