Kilili receives Seven Seals Award from ESGR committee

U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan on Tuesday received the Seven Seals Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Guam-CNMI Committee “for meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve.”

The award is presented at the discretion of the state chair or by the ESGR senior leadership.  It is presented in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement, initiative, or support that promotes and supports the ESGR mission, to include the efforts of volunteers who carry out ESGR’s mission across the nation.

ESGR Guam-CNMI area chair Rita A. Sablan, Ed.D. said the state committee nominated and selected Kilili to receive “this very distinguished award.” Only a very few people receive such an award, she added.

Together with ESGR state ombudsman Joann T. Aquino and chair emeritus and employer outreach coordinator Rose Igitol, Rita A. Sablan handed the award to Kilili on behalf of  the state chairman, ret. Lt. Col. Rey Llaneta, and the vice chair, ret. Maj. Gen. Benny Paulino.

Also present in the presentation of the award were Triple J’s Frank Ada and Mario Valentino.

“We want to take this opportunity on behalf of the Guam-CNMI State Committee to recognize you for all the advocacy work that you have done,” Rita A. Sablan told Kilili.

“I’m just doing my job,” Kilili replied.

“I know, but you’ve gone beyond that and…that is why we want to honor you,” the ESGR area chair said.

Kilili said the U.S. government has promised to take care of its servicemembers, and it will continue to fulfill that promise.

The Seven Seals Award depict the seals of the Army National Guard, the U.S. Army Reserve, the Navy Reserve, the U.S. Air Force Reserve, the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, the U.S. Marine Corps Force Reserve and the Air National Guard.
